Job Description

You will be relied upon to develop, compile and circulate information about the Olympic sports and athletes to support various teams in preparation for NBC’s coverage of the Games. Researchers travel to domestic and international competitions to learn about Olympic sports and provide up-to-date information to help inform editorial decisions. During the Games, you will work closely with talent and announcers and provide accurate, on-the-spot research during broadcasts. This role is for passionate Olympic fans with exceptional writing skills and attention to detail who want to play a key role in our storytelling process.  

Please note: This is a temporary full-time staff position with an estimated end date in April 2026; the position remains at will.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
  • Knowledge of and passion for Olympic sports
  • Excellent writing skills with proven journalistic writing ability (submission of writing samples required)
  • 1+ years of editorial or relevant experience
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Self-starting spirit: being comfortable traveling alone (sometimes internationally), working independently and as part of a team
Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience working as a senior writer or editor a college or professional newspaper, magazine or TV station
  • Proficiency in additional languages
  • Experience providing sports information for on-air broadcasters or working in a sports information office
  • Prior experience in TV writing is a plus (but not a must)
