Join us in shaping impactful narratives and engaging our audience through the power of visual storytelling. ABC10, the TEGNA-owned, ABC affiliate station in Sacramento, CA is seeking a skilled and creative Visual Storyteller/Photojournalist to join the award-winning ABC10 Originals team. As a key contributor, you will play a pivotal role in visually communicating compelling stories to our audience through various multimedia platforms. The perfect candidate has a keen eye for visual storytelling, proficiency in multimedia tools, a passion for creating engaging content, and able to provide relevant experience in shooting, editing, and able to execute deeper-level enterprise stories including investigations and news specials. Our ideal candidate is familiar with the latest video equipment to tell visual stories, editing tools, and techniques.

Compensation range: $52k - $62k DOE

Responsibilities:

• Shoot, edit, and assemble multimedia elements to create cohesive and impactful stories.
• Work closely with writers, editors, and other team members to ensure visual elements align with editorial objectives.
• Scout shoot locations in collaboration with reporters.
• Shoot and edit half-hour and hour-specials.
• Collaborate with reporters in the production process of long-form stories.
• Maintain consistency in visual style and brand guidelines across all content.
• Adapt storytelling techniques based on the platform (web, social media) and target audience.
• Use the latest editing and photography tools including premiere and aftereffects to shoot and edit multiple versions of the same stories and adapt to broadcast, web, YouTube, OTT, and social platforms.
• Perform post-production work that includes color grading footage.
• Knowledgeable in advance lighting skills for broadcast.
• Mirrorless and Sony FS series camera experience preferred.
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories.
• Advance storytelling experience required.
• Stay flexible to cover breaking news or events, and general assignments as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Proven experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems, in the media industry.
• Proficiency in photography, videography, and graphic design tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
• BA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
• Clear understanding of the principles of journalism
• Knowledge of S-log and other log picture profiles
• Advanced experience in Adobe Premiere and some experience in After Effects
• Demonstrated social media proficiency, including an active news gathering on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
• Member and active participant in NPPA/IRE preferred.
• Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.
