Job Description

KING 5 is on a mission to “Stand for Truth” by creating smart and engaging newscasts that focus on accountability and storytelling. Our team is looking for a Producer that shares our passion for finding and defending fact, is authentic and transparent and pushes to break new ground and care deeply about our local community. You will report to the Executive Producer and collaborate with a Senior Producer, other producers, anchors, reporters, and photojournalists. We are searching for someone who can balance multiple deadlines and uphold high journalistic standards to get our news on-air and to our digital platforms.

In This Role, You Will:
  • Visualize, conceptualize, craft, and build the lead story and segments for the newscast.
  • Use creative production techniques like graphics, editing and new forms of media to enhance stories
  • Prioritize breaking news coverage with context and empathy
  • Work together with members of the production team to elevate the newscast daily
  • Write conversationally and focus on voices in the community
  • Seek out opportunities to highlight high impact journalism
Job Requirements:
  • 3+ years of producing experience
    • Sound editorial judgement that aligns with KING 5’s brand, “Stand for Truth”
    • Organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work mornings, nights and/or weekends
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
  • Familiarity with Live Production Control Automation Systems
  • Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, video editing and content management systems a plus
  • BA/BS College Degree or related experience
Compensation Range: $28.85/hr - $37.02
