Job Description

The Producer will work closely with supervising producers, junior producers and Operations to build a live news TV program for CNBC Asia Pacific. You will conceive, pitch and discuss news stories, make decisions on the program line-up, as well as provide strategic input on guests to invite onto a show. The successful candidate is an accomplished news producer with strong editorial and in-depth knowledge of business and financial markets. There will also be opportunities to develop people management skills and take on manager responsibilities to develop junior team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conceive show ideas, news story ideas, interview direction
  • Line produce, write and stack lineup
  • Write and/or review scripts
  • Use CNBC systems, graphics, CGs, Hotboards (for stock charts) to deliver engaging news stories to CNBC’s audience
  • Build and maintain stellar production standards within CNBC Asia Pacific’s live, real-time news program format
  • Communicate effectively in the gallery and provide clear instructions to junior producers and/or Operations team
  • React to breaking news quickly, adjust and adapt to changing situations during live programming
  • Prioritize and manage tasks assigned to you independently
  • Co-manage the TV production team with the senior producers
  • Assist in curating content for CNBC.com, as required
Qualifications
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS
  • Excellent news editorial judgement
  • In-depth knowledge of business financial markets, geopolitical and economic news
  • Ability to work efficiently with accuracy in a fast-paced newsroom and meet tight deadlines
  • Develop a clear understanding of CNBC’s editorial standards and programming priorities
  • Flexibility in working different shifts, including on weekends or public holidays, as required
  • Effective communicator and collaborator, professionally interacting with colleagues at varying levels across the business
  • Experience with outdoor broadcast would be advantageous
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and people development/management experience would be advantageous
  • A passion for broadcasting, media and content production
  • Relevant university degree or diploma
  • 5 years + experience in television news production
