Job Description

WXIA 11Alive in Atlanta, Georgia is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to manage the newscast directors, studio technicians and all production spaces within the 11Alive studio facility. Effective interaction and communication with the News and Engineering departments, along with other departments, is critical to success. Strong leadership, organizational skills and creativity are a must. The successful candidate will possess strong skills in set design/construction and the ability to modify such that for special events. The Production Supervisor will also identify, modify and maintain other areas in the station as alternative production/shooting areas. The Production Supervisor will serve as the first contact for all News, Marketing, and Sales productions. The Production Supervisor will also interact with the TEGNA Design Tank. While reporting to the Head of Technology, a strong dotted line to the News Director will be in place.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical and team lead for studio operations
  • Train and monitor staff performance, holding accountable those not performing at the required level
  • Determining camera angles, lighting and set arrangement
  • Ensure effective interaction between the control room and multiple departments across the organization
  • Production staff, control room and studio scheduling
  • Creation of more production spaces for production at 11Alive
  • Other assigned duties as assigned or needed
Job Requirements:
  • Proactive self-learning
  • Effective leadership and communication during a crisis
  • Seven (7) years’ experience in various aspects of television production preferred
  • Three (3) years supervisory experience preferred
  • Remote multi-camera production experience
  • Excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on working as a team with producers
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Personal integrity, accountability, problem solving and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work early mornings, late evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders and lifts
Experience with:
  • Control room and studio systems
  • Set design/construction
  • Audio mixer
  • Studio lighting
  • Teleprompter
  • Robotic studio cameras
  • ChyronHego graphic systems
  • Non-Linear editing skills a plus
  • Experience with ENPS and Bit Central server systems also a plus
  • Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
  • Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
  • Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
