Job Description

The Production Workflow Manager will act as the single point of contact to production for those user bases regarding production workflow best practices, schedule and targets for production customization, internal tools, configuration and implementation, responsible for prioritizing requirements and working with other Workflow PMs, Engineering team, Technology Project Manager and the Production Technology (PT) Program Manager to implement changes according to the priorities they set.

The Production Workflow Manager (LFL, ILMxLAB, Stagecraft) reports to the Manager, Shotgrid Product Management for larger career development, compensation, etc.

What You’ll Do

Scheduling and Configuration Management:
  • Collaborate with Lucasfilm VFX, Stagecraft and ILMxLAB Productions (Producers, PMs, Coordinators, PAs), Supervisors, Tech and Artists on overall best practices on production workflows and production tool configurations
  • Closely collaborate with other Workflow Managers for global production workflow standardization and strategic development
  • Partner with the PT Program Manager, this Workflow Manager will negotiate priorities of implementation for user groups
  • Help develop internal training sessions, manage and maintain documentation for production workflows for  Lucasfilm VFX, Stagecraft and ILMxLAB users
  • Help with organization and development of production tracking tools for productions
  • Organize and run investigation meetings with users to ensure thorough understanding of user needs
  • Create and work with other workflow managers and PT Program Manager on all project requirements/stories in Jira, communicate priority and facilitate understanding with Technology  for scoping and implementation
  • Manage all interested party communication between divisions at all sites
  • Work with Technology Project Manager and PT Program Manager to upload timelines and roadmaps into Smartsheet and Jira
  • Communicate overall targets, priorities and any changes to interested parties
  • Work with Technology Project Manager and PT Program Manager to ensure all requests are clearly understood, the scope is clear and the requirements are clear between Production and Tech
  • Strategize, prioritize and negotiate any schedule changes and rebalancing directly with LFL VFX, Stagecraft and xLab users, Technology Project Manager and Shotgrid Product Manager
  • Anticipate and communicate issues with potential solutions or dependencies
  • Establish internal communication hierarchies, systems/templates for targets and priorities while ensuring full buy in and consistency with all Interested Parties
Production Partner Communication:
  • Primary point of contact for Lucasfilm VFX, Stagecraft and ILMxLAB users with regard to Production Tracking
  • Communicate regularly with other ILM Workflow Managers
  • Act as point of contact to production regarding requirements, schedule and targets
  • Communicate weekly or more regularly, as necessary, workflow progress reports to relevant teams
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree in Film or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • 3 years minimum work experience in video game production
  • Work experience in film/television production
  • Proven experience of learning and disseminating complex, differing user needs in order to create coherent solutions
  • Strong scheduling experience required
  • Must possess very strong organizational and communication skills and be able to handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner while meeting deadlines
  • Proficiency in Macs/PCs, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of UNIX required. Familiarity with Google Suite.
  • Ability to work on a computer/keyboard for long periods of time
Nice to have:
  • Experience working with and implementing Shotgrid or similar tracking software
  • Experience working with Unreal
  • Experience working with Perforce
  • Experience on set with physical and virtual production workflows is a plus
