WPHL-17 is looking for its next PT Newsgatherer/Photographer!

The PT Newsgatherer/Photographer will do the following:

Tracks stories from all sources including government agencies, wire services, community groups, and social media
Dispatches photographers, reporters and other personnel to cover stories
Dispatches themselves to cover news stories
Coordinates logistics for themselves and others in the news department
Participates in daily story meetings and supplies a comprehensive list of content and coverage ideas
Assists in development, planning and follow-up of news stories
Set up shoots
Edit video
Write stories for digital and for newscasts
Post to social media
Operates live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years of experience operating video recording equipment
Proficiency with computers, cell phones, and social media
Proficiency with video recording equipment
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

Set up, compose, and execute video shots
Shoot videos for news reports
Confers with other personnel to discuss assignments, logistics, and shot requirements
Edit video clips for television broadcasts and social media
Operate live microwave and satellite trucks in remote situations
Maintains video equipment
Performs other duties as assigned
Flexibility to work both afternoon and early morning shifts
Experience editing with Adobe Premiere preferred but not required

Role will likely work 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursdays and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Fridays
