Job Description
The Warner Bros. Discovery UK and Ireland Publicity department constantly strives to create and maintain a best-in-class position within the industry. The publicity team is tasked with strategically positioning, promoting but also protecting the launch of all WBD titles.
A key role with the PR team in the UK and Ireland leading on TV campaigns across discovery+ as well as linear channels across the Discovery portfolio. WBD is looking for a candidate who has a passion for popular Entertainment and Fact Ent TV.
As part of a larger WBD team covering Film, TV, Games, Franchise, Catalogue and Sport, we expect the candidate to have a cross divisional mindset looking for opportunities and innovation for the full business. This also includes supporting the wider team on events and projects when needed.
Your Role Accountabilities…
- Support the Senior Publicity Manager to identify key PR priorities in the Streaming and Networks’ slate, manage the team, champion new opportunities and areas of growth
- Devise and implement creative publicity campaigns over a diverse slate whilst continually looking to expand conventional publicity opportunities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with journalists and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the UK and Ireland media landscape with a track record in delivery of press coverage.
- Influencer and tastemaker engagement
- Maintain ongoing news generation with experience writing strong copy for newsworthy programming.
- Manage press event production e.g. screenings, junkets, set visits.
- Direct and manage talent (both local and international) and their representatives in relation to PR of their programmes.
- Have demonstrable experience of managing direct reports, PR agencies and other suppliers.
- Work collaboratively with the wider team and other departments (Social, Marketing, Trade, Commissioning, Scheduling) to devise joint noisy, consistent, and creative campaigns.
- Work closely with US and EMEA Central colleagues on key promotional priorities.
- Identify stories that present potential reputation risks to flag up to Senior PR Manager and the relevant stakeholders. Managing sensitive content and upholding discretion at all times.
- Report to the wider business on the success of campaigns
Qualifications & Experience…
- TV publicity experience with prior PR experience either in-house or agency with the ability to implement and manage campaigns.
- A strong communicator. Critical to managing media relations and reporting internally in the UK and EMEA
- Ability to manage the general day-to-day activities of a busy and fast paced press office.
- Exemplary media knowledge with a good network of journalists/contacts.
- Experience drafting PR plans and strategy.
- Effective interpersonal skills - able to work with people at different levels within the organisation.
- Self-motivation - able to work on own initiative and be persistent, patient and pragmatic.
- Team working - able to work within a matrix organization.
- Flexibility - able to cope with several varying tasks and different people at one time in a rapidly changing environment.
- Time Management - able to deal with several projects simultaneously, without missing deadlines.
- Analytical skills and close attention to detail.
