Job Description
**SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $75,000**
The Interactive One Human Resources Department is seeking a Recruiting and People Services Specialist to join the team. This is a great opportunity for an up and coming HR professional to learn the ins and outs of Human Resources and gain hands-on experience in recruiting, employee engagement, HR Administration and employee lifecycle.
The qualified candidate for this role is a self-starter who can effectively complete a project from start to finish; extremely detail-oriented and enjoys interacting with people. We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and grow with the company.
You will be an essential member of the HR team and mainly responsible for recruiting activities; posting, sourcing, creating and maintaining a pipeline of talent. You will also be responsible for guiding candidates through the hiring process and serve as a resource for hiring managers. In addition, you will be responsible for Cultural activities and support the Associate Director in the payroll function.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Recruiting:
- Leads the recruiting strategies applying effective recruiting methods at identifying qualified candidates in partnership with the hiring manager’s needs.
- Identify a variety of sourcing platforms and building a talent pipeline
- Manage interview logistics for digital positions, providing prescribed support to include pre-screening, scheduling, making salary recommendations, etc.
- Source and manage a candidate pool through various recruitment channels including, but not limited to: employee referrals, , social networking (Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter), career website, niche ad sites, cold-calling, and universities
- Thoroughly review every job description to determine the correct FLSA designation by applying secured knowledge of the wage and hour law
- Organize interview schedule and logistics to include phone, in-person, video interviews for hiring managers
- Ensure applicants complete appropriate onboarding to undergo reference/background checks to maintain compliance
- Provide candidates with information regarding compensation, benefits, and the company culture to ensure the candidate is well informed
- Provide rejection letters to all interviewed candidates
- Assist managers with temporary employee needs and identify and develop build in partnership with staffing vendors
Onboarding:
- Drafts and administer accurate offer letters
- Review new hire onboarding documents for completion
- Conducts new hire orientation with established best practices
- Ensures employees complete required state training (e.g., sexual harassment) per state requirements
- Conducts or assist with reference checks
- Conduct employment verifications
- Ensures applicants undergo the appropriate background checks and reviews background reports in adherence with protocols
- Answers inquiries regarding compensation, benefits, payroll, and general polices/practices
- Manage new hire announcements for publishing
- Maintain and regularly update the division’s organization chart
Payroll:
- Assist with payroll by completing PAFs and New Hire Worksheets, timesheet notifications and collection, adding changes to HRIS system and serve as a backup for register review
- Responsible for enrollment, updates and terminations in commuter benefits participation.
General:
- Develop creative and engaging employee morale initiatives, leads company event planning and logistics, communications and manage budget
- Manage employee recognition programs
- Serve as back-up to assist with severance agreements and terminations
- Serve as backup for exit meetings
- Keep personnel files updated in accordance with law and department’s established requirements
- Participates in special projects and assists all functional areas of the human resources as needed.
- Keeps abreast of legislation affecting human resources and monitors company policies to ensure compliance.
- Proactively engages in professional learning/training. Attend department trainings, webinars, seminars as required and deploy skills to enhance effectiveness in job performance
- Complies with Network and Urban One’s mandatory trainings and adheres to related course deadlines
- Lead and/or assist with department and global projects and approach with enthusiasm
- Embraces additional duties as assigned by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated ability to independently draft clear and concise business letters, memos, notes, emails, etc. using proper business format, grammar and punctuation is required
- Demonstrated ability to use good judgement and deploy critical thinking skills across all work assignments
- Ability to think creatively and execute concepts independently required
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work to ensure deadlines are met
- Must have strong attention to detail and thrive in a deadline driven environment
- Proficiency with various computer software packages including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook is required
- Knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to human resource management; understands best practice concepts and uses good judgment in decision making as it relates to areas of responsibility
- Possess strong research skills and ability to interpret and translate relevant insights
- Ability to learn through actively engaging in problem solving, researching and finding resolution options
- Ability to proactively create procedures using industry best practice and within scope of authority
- Ability to take direction and constructive feedback as it relates to projects, performance and accepts full accountability for work product
- Customer service driven; proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Must be professional, organized, efficient and demonstrate the ability to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work

- Passion for HR required
- Ability to work and be contacted and/or work outside of standard workday
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must be able to provide proof of vaccination upon request
- The legal right to work in the United States
EDUCATION:
- BS/BA degree with a concentration in HR or related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years HR experience.
- At least 2 years of broad experience in recruiting.
- Experience with an applicant tracking system and HRIS exposure.
- Media/entertainment experience preferred.
