Responsibilities:
- Prepare and direct live and recorded studio-based content utilizing Avid iNews and Ross Overdrive automated production control systems from multiple control rooms, studios, and remote locations
- Build and code rundowns for all shows
- Call shows by giving direction and timing to talent and technicians
- Collaborate closely with Content and Production teams to produce high quality, compelling content to include the creative look and feel of each production
- Take technical ownership of show; Make quick decisions and acts with agility to resolve on-air technical issues
- Document technical procedures and processes
- Work with management and engineering staff to continually refine workflows, creating new efficiencies and capabilities
- Strong understanding of shot composition, lighting and aesthetics
- Ability to work well, communicate effectively with others and promote teamwork and a positive working environment
- Ability to perform under pressure in fast-paced and deadline driven situations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in television production or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of two (2+) years' broadcast experience directing and/or technical directing in a fast paced and competitive environment
- Proficiency with Avid iNEWS, Ross Overdrive or comparable automated production control systems
- Experience directing with automated systems controlling graphics, cameras, and audio
- Knowledge of control room production within a news or sports channel environment
Desired Characteristics
- Solid technical aptitude and experience with television control room and studio production technology (including video switchers, audio mixers, character generators, robotic camera controls, production automation systems and automated on-air playout system)
- Proven ability to prioritize, perform under pressure and make critical programming decisions quickly
- Dependable, a self-starter and operates consistently with a high degree of accuracy
- Sound leadership skills - able to work unsupervised and lead with a positive attitude in a collaborative environment
- Able to remain calm under pressure and think critically
- Self-motivated, highly creative, forward-thinking individual
- Adaptability, enthusiastic, takes initiative, ability to handle criticism, maintain an even temperament and has a positive approach to problem solving
Additional Requirements
- Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
- Schedule will include evenings, weekends and holidays
- Willingness to work long hours on short notice
- Flexibility with schedule changes
- Must be willing to work in Philadelphia, PA
- Must have a valid driver’s license
Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite - Philadelphia, PA.
