Job Description

This role is responsible for sustainment of current shows and entertainment facility audio maintenance for Disney Cruise Line Entertainment including partnering with DLE on show remounts of existing seasonal shows.
                                                                              
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute audio support for non-show, marine facility infrastructure, as assigned.
  • Participate in project development as assigned.
  • Audio support for Disney Cruise Lines Toronto rehearsal facility as required.
  • Audio support for Disney Cruise Lines Island locations as required.
  • Stay current with audio technology research and development efforts within industry.
  • Partner and consult with DLE-DSE audio designers and vendors to ensure Disney quality, compatibility, training, and proper documentation of all audio services delivered.
  • Function as a resource to maintain the proper training of shipboard technicians.
  • Conduct on-going “Entertainment Show Quality” evaluations of existing offerings and provide support to maintain their original show intent.
  • Maintain up-to-date show documentation.
  • Assist with continued development and maintenance of the DCL Training Lab.
  • Partners with shoreside Entertainment Technical Operations to manage audio sustainment schedules.
  • Partners with shoreside Technical Production Manager to facilitate shoreside training for new hire technicians.
  • Partners with shipboard Manager of Entertainment Technical and shipboard entertainment technical teams with regards to current show installations.
  • As a leader, the Show Sustainment Manager - Audio provides leadership and functions as a mentor/developer, promotes company-wide standards and efficiencies, and provide professional and social guidance to partners through exemplary personal behavior.
  • Complies with set policies and procedures as well as all maritime and ship rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Partner with shoreside Entertainment Technical Leadership, Disney Cruise Line Safety partners and the Standards and Sustainment team to ensure Safety Management Systems and Operating Guideline documentation is up to date and in accordance with current safety and regulatory practices.
  • Complies with SIP policies and partners with their DCL and DLE SIP representatives.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Entertainment Industry working in theatrical design, show development and live show operation.
  • Superior understanding and working knowledge of current technology and Industry standards for all aspects of audio design (theatrical, industrial, concert, touring, etc.), as applied to live show and facility systems.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in audio practice and procedures including show design, facility design, and audio desk programming.
  • Proficiency in current release of Q-Sys Designer, SMAART, and AutoCAD software.
  • Proven ability to deliver on a project’s established scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving and decision-making skills, often under pressure.
  • Demonstrated leadership, partnering and strategic planning skills.
  • Highly motivated requiring minimal direction and follow up.
  • Strong computer skills (Outlook, Microsoft Suite).
  • Proven ability to support the creative process by collaborating with other designers, directors, writers, and producers.
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays and frequent extended international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of creative process and the development of a creative design.
  • Superior knowledge of audio design theory and practice, especially as it applies to the creative process.
  • Experience and/or understanding of facility design, engineering and construction.
Required Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent 
Preferred Education:
  • College degree in Technical Theater or equivalent with focus on live sound reinforcement.
