Job Description

The Social Media Strategist will be responsible for creating visually compelling content that grows awareness and advocacy of The Los Angeles Film School brand. The successful candidate will have a strong and intimate knowledge of the evolving social media landscape, know how to develop and report on effective strategy, and be proficient in creating engaging video and photo content. We are looking for a talented storyteller with a passion for utilizing modern visual techniques to bring stories to life.

** Candidates for this position must possess a minimum of 5+ years of experience working in social media for a brand or agency. **

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Write, manage, and create content for an evolving social media content calendar on a daily/weekly basis.
  • Content production in capturing and editing short form video
  • Formulate and execute compelling content ideas and associated copy with a consistent brand voice appropriate for target audiences/channels.
  • Manage and grow The Los Angeles Film School brand presence across social media channels, strategizing content that increases brand advocacy and loyalty.
  • Lead day-to-day community management and student support efforts across social channels.
  • Have working knowledge and real-world experience in planning, managing and executing social media initiatives.
  • Innovate new and creative ways to use social platforms and digital content to tell stories, empower advocates, heighten the student experience, connect with grads and grow awareness 
  • Work closely with the social media team to strategize, conceptualize, capture, and edit short form social media content for various channels including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Become an active community member for The Los Angeles Film School in social media and third party channels, including responding in a timely manner and making updates and posts
  • Leverage data and reports to assist in engagement strategies and measure effectiveness 
  • Local to L.A. and available to assist the social media team on site in support of The Los Angeles Film School events on a (weekly/monthly) basis. 
  • Monitoring ongoing social and cultural conversation to identify content opportunities and act through short-form content, photography, graphic design and copy.
  • Have exceptional writing skills to create copy for social media assets 
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Community response and engagement on social media platforms
  • Copywriting
  • Cataloguing and maintaining up-to-date, accurate digital assets for LAFS social media team through a Digital Asset Management System
  • Accountable for the creation of presentations in a timely manner
Other Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of The Los Angeles Film School
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of company and personnel information
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization
  • Adheres to company attendance standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Competencies/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Social media community management skills, proficiency in short-form video editing, ability to cultivate and create online conversation, excellent writing and grammar, strong project management skills, detailed oriented, highly autonomous, ability to prioritize projects, work in a fast paced environment
Education and/or Experience:
  • BS/BA Degree degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related discipline
  • 5+ years of social media experience for a brand or agency
  • 1-2 years of video editing and/or graphic design experience a plus
  • Experienced in professional writing structure, ability to flex between formal and entertaining writing styles
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their communities (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.) and how they can be deployed in various initiatives
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of trends, tools, applications and emerging technologies in the social media space
Computer Skills:
  • Strong Mac and PC software/OS proficiency
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Suite with proficiency in Premiere Pro, Lightroom and/or Photoshop
  • Ability to use Salesforce with proficiency
