Job Description

As the Senior Manager of social media at ESPN, specializing in the expansion of women's sports, you will spearhead strategic initiatives to elevate the visibility and engagement of women's sports content across ESPN's social media platforms. This role entails developing and implementing comprehensive social media strategies, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and leveraging analytics to optimize content reach. You will lead a team, foster partnerships, and contribute to the advancement of women's sports by staying at the forefront of industry trends. If you are passionate about sports, social media, and promoting inclusivity, we invite you to be a key player in driving the growth of women's sports at ESPN. This position will report to the Sr Dir Social Media.

This position may be based in CT (preferred), NY or CA.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to amplify the presence and coverage of women's sports on ESPN's platforms.
  • Create engaging and compelling content that showcases the diversity and excellence of women athletes, teams, and events.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the visibility of women's sports through innovative campaigns and initiatives.
  • Monitor social media trends and emerging platforms to stay at the forefront of digital engagement strategies.
  • Implement data-driven insights to optimize content performance and audience engagement.
  • Foster relationships with athletes, influencers, and key stakeholders in the women's sports community to enhance content creation and distribution.
  • Lead a dynamic team of social media professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, evolving social media algorithms, and technological advancements to inform strategy and decision-making.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, production, and editorial, to integrate women's sports content seamlessly across ESPN's ecosystem.
  • Act as an advocate for diversity and inclusion in sports, championing initiatives that promote equality and representation.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Social Media or a related industry
  • 2+ years of experience managing teams of people
  • 3+ years of experience using video editing software (e.g. Final Cut, Premiere)
  • 3+ years of experience using photo editing software (e.g. Photoshop, InDesign)
  • Proven experience in social media management, with a focus on sports content and a strong understanding of women's sports landscape.
  • Demonstrated success in driving audience growth and engagement through strategic social media initiatives.
  • In-depth knowledge of various social media platforms, analytics tools, and emerging trends in digital media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
  • A passion for promoting diversity and inclusion in sports.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years’ experience managing large-scale social media accounts
  • 2+ years’ experience articulating social strategy in large meeting settings

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
