Job Description
- Responsibilities include the following:
- Assists with production planning and consulting on staging logistics;
- Constructs, installs, repairs, dismantles and stores scenery, props and materials;
- Installs, erects, adjusts, handles, operates, maintains and repairs studio lighting equipment;
- Prompts, cues, and times talent during commercial tapings, show tapings and live shows;
- Operates special equipment such as the teleprompter;
- Constructs major set pieces for commercial, public service and news productions;
- Assures proper cleanliness of studio facilities and keeps props and scenery orderly and in good repair. Performs all the above for remote productions and other duties as deemed appropriate and as assigned.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team oriented, broadcast news and production environment.
- Have an in-depth knowledge of broadcast theatrical lighting and staging techniques.
- Minimum associate’s degree or equivalent TV broadcast experience.
- Five years lighting and staging experience required.
- Teleprompter experience necessary.
- Must have a proven ability to establish effective working relationships, effective communication skills, and ability to work independently.
- Able to lift 75-pounds, reach above one’s head and climb ladders exceeding 14-feet.
- Must be able to stand and walk up to five (5) hours continuous.
- Valid driver’s license. IATSE Union membership.
