The Big Ten Network is seeking summer Interns to join one of our various departments at the Chicago office. The program offers an exciting opportunity for you to gain practical experience and expand your professional network, while interning for a growing sports media company. You will have the opportunity to participate in real- world projects, which provides valuable work experience and leadership skills.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing an undergraduate degree or graduate degree during the length of the program
  • Current class standing of Sophomore, (Second year college student) or above
  • Strong academic record (minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA)
  • Selected candidates are required to provide a copy of an unofficial transcript or letter from adviser/registrar showing proof of enrollment and GPA.
  • Committed and available to work for the entire length of the program
  • Access to own housing and transportation to/from the assigned internship site, located in Chicago for the duration of the internship
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company.
Summer 2023 Schedule:
  • General Application Deadline: Friday, March 3rd, 2023
  • Summer Program: 8-week timeframe Monday June 5th – Friday, July 28th
  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 32-40 hours per week. Please note that schedules vary based on department needs and your availability.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending on your area of interest, you’ll have an opportunity to participate in the following:
  • Marketing: Hands-on experience working with brand, sports marketing, social media promotion, event planning and to help with its event marketing initiatives BTN Big 10K and B1G Tailgate.
  • Broadcast Engineering: Work closely with the Chief Engineer. Engineering Intern will help with installation, commissioning, and training on our new IP router project.
  • Digital Media: The Digital intern will work closely with the Digital Content, Digital Partnerships, Streaming and Video Operations teams. During the internship, you will have exposure/will be able to support content strategy/distribution, video archives, customer relationship management, and digital research.
  • Graphic Design: Working alongside the design team learning how to build out various motion graphics and providing support elements and files.  These projects will include cutting out 2D elements using Adobe Photoshop, building support models and textures using Cinema 4D, and versioning & rendering completed graphics for broadcast with Adobe After Effects.
  • Remote Production: The Intern for the remote production department will work with production staff to help prepare for live game broadcasts on the Big Ten Network and B1G+. This may include working on and preparing for coverage of our fall sports such as football, helping prepare and execute Big Ten Volleyball media days and organizing a variety of production elements and paperwork to get prepared for the upcoming season.
  • Original production: The B1G Network Originals intern will be responsible for providing production support to our Originals team on summer productions. This can range from assisting going through interviews, helping screen and locate footage, helping organize BTN assets, creating player reels and scenic reels, and going on location for Big Ten Football Media Day.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
