Surfacing Artist

They will report to a Surfacing Lead and will be responsible for a weekly quota of assets along with revisions. Learning opportunities and R&D will also be available to the applicant who wishes to expand their skillset and apply these new techniques in a creative way.

Key Responsibilities
• Work collaboratively in a team to surface characters, props and environments that strictly adhere to a specific Art Direction and style
• Work creatively to solve problems as they arise and help develop new ideas and techniques
• Stay up-to-date on new tools and improvements needed for textures and surfacing
• Deliver tasks on time and complete revisions in a timely manner

Key Requirements
• 2+ years of experience as a Surfacing Artist in TV series production
• Strong knowledge of Substance 3D Painter or equivalent PBR-ready painting application
• Strong knowledge of UVs and advanced shading techniques
• Strong knowledge of building shaders for unbiased rendering packages such as Vray, Arnold, Redshift, Cycles X etc
• Knowledge of shading techniques in alt. rendering packages (such as Unreal Engine, Blender, etc) a bonus
• Knowledge of traditional texture painting techniques (Photoshop etc) recommended
• Portfolio that demonstrates a broad range of techniques and styles
• Ability to follow art direction faithfully and execute high quality work in a timely manner
• Experience within the animated TV series pipeline is required
• Strong communication skills, ability to work alone and in a team setting
• Excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to balance multiple priorities and/or unexpected challenges
• Professional and friendly with a flexible attitude
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, as well as Outlook and Office 365 connected apps
