Summary:  KRWG Public Media at New Mexico State University is looking for a TV Producer, Sr. to become part of our dynamic production team.

We’re looking for someone that’s passionate about media, creative, highly technical and driven to tell the stories that mean something to our communities. The successful candidate will also be highly motivated to explore our diverse communities across our viewing area and will be involved in all aspects of production, from concept to final product.

Classification Summary:
  • Develops, writes, produces and directs various programs, promotional or documentary material for television on-air broadcast or online. 
  • Chooses angle of story to pursue and conducts necessary research. 
  • Coordinates activities of assigned staff during productions.
Classification Standard Duties:
  • Produces, writes, edits, and directs videos, promotional campaigns or public events programs including editorial changes, graphics and conceptual design. 
  • Conducts necessary research to obtain information required to develop the story or concept. Assembles and edits story, promotional segment or video to ensure visual cohesiveness by assessing narrative and visual content. 
  • Develops digital presentation and distribution of materials, including the use of websites and social media. 
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Certification/License, Equivalency
  • Required Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.; 
  • Required Experience: One (1) year of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.; 
  • Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.; 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of broadcast production techniques. 
  • Knowledge of equipment utilized in production and editing. 
  • Knowledge of studio lighting and sound procedures and requirements.; 
SKILLS:

ABILITIES:

  • Ability to coordinate staging and production personnel for studio and/or remote programs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides creative input and completes projects for studio productions; this includes production design for sets and graphics, choice of music, lighting, and other studio elements. 
  • Coordinates with editorial producers on custom elements of set design, including but not limited to special background lighting and arrangement of guests. 
  • Serves as technical director (Note the Technical Director is a specific role in Television multi-camera productions and it refers to an individual who per the Director's orders, physically makes the camera cuts to a live feed (or a live to tape feed) by physically pressing buttons on the switcher.)
  • Provides creative direction and planning for shoots in coordination with editorial producers. 
  • Shoots and edits videos of all types, from short-form promotions to documentaries. 
  • Writes questions and conducts interviews. 
  • Plans and implements website posts and social media. 
  • Conducts research and schedules guests for field and studio shoots. 
  • Writes treatments to describe proposed projects. 
  • Conducts limited training of student employees and interns in coordination with other production employees. 
  • Writes reports and maintains video files as assigned. 
  • Assists with feedback for creative talent, including show rundowns and graphics. 
  • Provides creative direction and input for a wide variety of other videos that may include assistance from other production employees. 
  • Shoots and edits these videos, which may include adjustments based on feedback from management and/or clients.
