Job Description

They are the key point of contact with the creative leads on the client / production side in collaboration with the Director and / or Producer. The Previs Supervisor is the point person for deciding internal tasking on shots, conducting efficient review of artists' work and has sole responsibility for internal sign off on 'final' shots. The Supervisor collaborates with high-profile directors, editors and VFX supervisors and must be adaptable and prepared to implement changes on the fly.

Must be local to Beijing, no relocation assistance provided.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement the creative direction of each shot and sequence
  • Work closely with the client(s) to ensure that their vision is met, constantly improving on client's wishes
  • Provides management to the artists by providing guidance and feedback to push forward their shot creation techniques
  • Help producer and BD director in assessing shots and breakdowns in order to make the most accurate bidding.
  • Work closely with Head of Production to ensure an accurate production schedule and casting requirements are set up accordingly for their show requirements
  • Work out element, technical, and R&D requirements
  • Daily review of assets and shots and provides feedback or notes.
  • Work closely with all departments on pipeline improvements and developments
  • Ensures that TTF is compliant with high security and NDA compliance
  • Work closely with the HR/Artist Manager to manage performance related matters and artist career aspirations
  • Be familiar with the differences of clients from overseas and local markets and be able to work with them flexibly.
  • Attend and present company business and techniques on behalf of TTFB in some online or offline events such as film festivals, live streaming events, expos, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Fluent in English speaking, listening and writing.
  • Encompasses all skills for a Senior/Lead, including but not limited to live action film-making creative ideas, shot creation, modeling, animation, lighting, compositing, texture & shading, FX, environment, virtual productions, etc.
  • Extensive experience in visual effects for film, commercial, and/or interactive entertainment including recent supervision experience both studio based and on location
  • A solid knowledge of film storytelling through shot design and editing
  • Experience working with tight budgets and timelines
  • Setting realistic and achievable expectations with clients while maintaining our high quality
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem solving skills
  • Experience with assessing artistic team members skills sets and assigning task accordingly
  • A solid knowledge of Previs / VFX / CG shot production and the iteration process
  • Strong creative and technical skills in live action film style animation and competency in all other areas of 3D including modeling, texturing, lighting, and FX
  • Extensive experience with blue / green screen compositing as well as the integration of 3D elements into plates
  • Required knowledge of other departments and ability to work with them to produce cohesive assets
  • Art Department (3D models, receiving concepts to produce approved assets, working with set dec to get proper set measurements and requirements met, etc.)
  • VFX Department (delivering scene files, understanding vfx practical shoots and limitations, etc.)

  • A basic knowledge of color theory and film application for live-action film including film-stock, film-grain, color space and look-up tables, film processing and DI processing
  • A desire to learn from others and to take on increasingly challenging work
  • A strong understanding of the theory of Editing, having a solid grasp of editing techniques on storytelling and pacing, leading to more successful shots and sequence creation
  • Able to travel to offsite locations to Supervise a team at the clients requested location (including but not limited to the greater Los Angeles area, Atlanta, Australia, Canada, etc.), for length of time as required by the project
  • Experience using MoCap and directing MoCap sessions is a plus!
  • Confidence to contribute to the pre-production process as a key creative with a willingness to form a strong bond with the director, vfx department, editorial department and production design department for any given production
  • Responsible and able to work under high pressure
